The Île de Batz ferryman

Armein, a Finistère maritime transport company, is the historic link between Roscoff and Île de Batz. From Roscoff's old port, its ferries make the 15-minute crossing to this island with an exceptional microclimate. The company carries islanders, visitors and freight that sustains daily life on the island throughout the year.

A frequent and reliable service

Armein ferries run year-round with a frequency adapted to the seasons: a departure every 30 minutes in summer, with more spaced-out rotations in winter. Timetables are adjusted to the tides, as the channel between Roscoff and Batz is partially exposed at low tide. Crossings are rarely cancelled, as the channel is relatively sheltered from ocean swells.

A scenic crossing

Despite its brevity, the crossing between Roscoff and Batz is a spectacle in itself. Departing from Roscoff's old port offers a magnificent view of the corsair town and its Renaissance bell tower. Navigating between rocks and channel markers, with Île de Batz drawing closer, is a foretaste of the island atmosphere. On clear days, the lighthouse and exotic gardens are visible from the boat.

Practical information

Tickets can be purchased at the old port of Roscoff ticket office or directly on board. Booking is not necessary: boarding is on a first-come, first-served basis. In high season, you may need to wait for the next boat if the previous one is full. The nearest car park is at Roscoff's old port (pay-and-display in summer). It is also possible to arrive by train (Roscoff station) and walk to the boarding point in 10 minutes.
