Yeu Continent
Yeu Continent provides the maritime link between Fromentine and Île d'Yeu in Vendée, with 30 to 70-minute crossings depending on the vessel, year-round.
The vital link to Île d'Yeu
Yeu Continent (Compagnie Vendéenne) is the sole maritime company providing regular service between the mainland and Île d'Yeu. Departing from Fromentine, at the tip of the Noirmoutier peninsula, it carries hundreds of thousands of passengers each year to Port-Joinville, the main port of Île d'Yeu.
Two types of vessel, two experiences
The Yeu Continent fleet includes conventional vessels (60 to 70-minute crossing) and the Pont d'Yeu, a high-speed ship (30-minute crossing). The Insula Oya II, the flagship, can carry 500 passengers and vehicles. The choice between the two types of crossing depends on schedules, the season and personal preference: speed or comfort.
A year-round service
Unlike many island services, Yeu Continent runs a daily service throughout the year, including in winter. Frequency ranges from 2 to 3 daily rotations in low season to 6 or more at the height of summer. Vehicle transport is available on conventional vessels, but spaces are limited and must be booked in advance.
Booking and getting to Fromentine
The Fromentine boarding point is accessible by car from Nantes (1.5 hours) and has a large car park (pay-and-display in summer). Tickets are available online, by phone and at the ticket office. Booking is compulsory for vehicles and strongly recommended for passengers in high season. A bus service also connects Nantes railway station to Fromentine in summer.
