Penn ar Bed — "end of the world" in Breton — is the historic maritime company of the Finistère islands. Integrated into the BreizhGo network, the Brittany Region's transport network, it provides regular services to Ouessant, Molène and Île de Sein from Brest, Le Conquet, Audierne and Camaret-sur-Mer. Carrying approximately 330,000 passengers each year, it is the vital link between these islands and the mainland.
A fleet built for extreme conditions
The Iroise Sea, known for its powerful currents and changeable weather, demands robust and reliable vessels. The Penn ar Bed fleet comprises five main ships, including the Enez Eussa III (450 passengers) and the Fromveur II (350 passengers), specially designed to navigate these demanding waters. The Molenez serves the small island of Molène, while the Enez Sun III and André Colin cover the Île de Sein route.
Essential maritime routes
Penn ar Bed operates three main routes: Brest/Le Conquet - Molène - Ouessant, the flagship line with several daily rotations; Le Conquet - Molène as a direct service; and Audierne - Île de Sein, a one-hour crossing through the treacherous Raz de Sein. In summer, additional services run from Camaret-sur-Mer, allowing passengers to discover the Crozon peninsula along the way.
Booking and fares
Tickets are available online on the BreizhGo website, by phone or directly at the ticket offices in departure ports. Booking in advance is strongly recommended in July-August and during bank holiday weekends. Fares benefit from the BreizhGo regional subsidy, keeping crossings affordable. Reduced rates are offered for children, families and KorriGo card holders.
